Planning a Bat and/or Bar Mitzvah for Your Child

In the Jewish community, when a child becomes of age, which for a girl is 12 and for a boy is 13, it is believed that the children are now responsible to God and others for the actions. This coming of age is a time of ceremony and celebration. For a girl, the ceremony is called a bat mitzvah and for a boy the ceremony is called a bar mitzvah.

The planning for a bat mitzvah and a bar mitzvah are quite similar. The first thing that you will need to plan for is the venue. Your family size and the amount of friends outside of family that your child will want to invite will have an impact on when you should reserve your location for the event.

If you are planning on using your synagogue, then you need to speak to your rabbi to ensure that the space is available when you need it. You should probably check a year in advance of the bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah to ensure that you don't have to scramble around looking for another venue.

You should keep in mind that there will be stricter rules in place when using synagogue facilities for your party. If you want it to run longer than a certain time or you want to have music that isn't typically approved of by your rabbi, then you may need to have a plan B in terms of location.

You will also want to plan the menu well in advance of the party. Many caterers around the US offer kosher catering, but if they aren't a Jewish facility, they may have to plan in advance for a priest to come and bless their ovens and food. They may also have a particular Jewish vendor that they use that requires more time to provide them with the food and ingredients that they need. If you are having difficulty finding a kosher caterer, ask your rabbi if he has a list of caterers in the area.

A bat mitzvah and bar mitzvah are special events that need to be marked with style. This means that you want to remember to provide great music. This could mean hiring a band or a DJ. If you hire either, find out if they provide the sound equipment and microphones so you can determine if you need to provide these additional items yourself.

Lastly, you need to ensure that you have a plan in place for the flow of the party. Keeping to a schedule will ensure everything falls into place and that your child's coming of age party is everything that both you and your child will always remember.

The Wedding The Pictures The Memories

So the question is what do you look for when you want to hire a wedding photographer for that very special day of yours? This isn't going to be something you will leave to chance or to someone who just graduated from photography correspondence school. These are pictures that are going to last a lifetime. Everything has to be perfect and that includes the pictures. One thing you will need to do is look at their reference work. Get a list of former clients and talk to them.

When you decide on a wedding photographer spend time with that person. Let him or her get to know you. Let them meet your families and the wedding party. Go through all the details of exactly what you want and the photography will go so much smoother. There shouldn't be any guess work on your pictures, or any stressful worry. Everything is explained and left in the hands of the person you have hired for one of the most special days of your life.

Word of mouth is the best advertisement there is. So when you are looking for a wedding photographer ask your friends and relatives if they know of a company that will give you the kind of photography service for the best pictures possible. If they can't recommend anyone, then your best bet will be to go online. You will want to have of list of requirements and questions next to you as your browsing these websites. Check out the package deals or special rates they may have.

Cheap isn't always the best way to go, so remember, you get what you pay for. But it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg either. There is a happy medium in there with your name on it, and the wedding photographer is a big part of that happiness. If you're not sure of this person's photography finesse, then go to the next website. It's your money, your time and above all, it is your wedding. Once everything is in place, then you can relax and enjoy this day of all days.
