Birthday Party Crafts

Is your child tired of the same type of birthday each year? It is a different theme, yet the same games. This year try something new for a fun memorable birthday party by making crafts.

Scrap booking is so popular among girls how about making a scrapbook page for the girls to take home instead of the usual party favors that get thrown away. Provide each girl with a 12x12 piece of cardstock. Make sure you have a variety of embellishments for the girls to use on their page. The girls will be able to make the page as elaborate or simple as they wish. A good idea for embellishments would be princess or friendship stickers, beads, or flowers. Don’t forget your digital camera and if you can print the pictures out before the girls leave. Not only will the girls have a completed scrapbook page but also they will not forget the fun time they had at your daughter’s birthday.

Along the same lines as the scrapbook page would be a friendship frame. What girl does not want to have pictures of her and her friends displayed in her room? You can go to any store with crafts and pick up unfinished wood frames. Provide paint and embellishments for the girls to choose from or you could have them make the same themed frame. Have the girls paint the frame when the party first gets started, while the frames are drying you can play games, open gifts, and eat the cake. About an hour before the party is over let the girls embellish the frames, a cute idea would be to have each girl sign the frame then take a group picture for the girls to put in the frame. The girls will have a lasting memory and gift of the party.

A great summer idea is decorating flip-flops. You can take a pair of flip flops decorate them and make them look trendy. Give each girl a plain pair of flips flops, have a variety of ribbon, beads, gems, or flowers. You will also need glue any kind will work; however, there is craft glue that can be used for decorating flip-flops. Start at the bottom of the strap and run glue along the top of the strap. Tightly wrap ribbon around the strap, make sure the ribbon is tight so no gaps are formed. Do this to both sides of the straps stopping in the center. After the ribbon has been placed you can then embellish the middle of the flip-flop, the girls could also glue embellishments along the straps to give the flip flop more flair.
