TOP HONEYMOON DESTINATIONS

The reward at the end of all the wedding festivities is traditionally a HONEYMOON time, a planned vacation that the couple takes to begin the marriage. In ancient Ireland they fermented honey and water to create a honey based wine called Meade - the drink believed to have powers of fertility and virility. It became a custom for the bride and groom to drink Meade for one full moon following the wedding day – hence the word – HONEYMOON.

Traditionally the groom is responsible for planning and paying for this part of the wedding. More than likely he will seek the advice of the bride or a trusted friend or family member to help him decide.

Each couple should have an idea by now how they want to enjoy their leisure time together. Some will want a luxurious pampering spa vacation; others may choose an adventurous journey mountain climbing. A restful week at the ocean may appeal to some while a visit to ancient Roman ruins will get the hearts pumping for others.

Current top destinations are Tahiti, Rome, Paris, Bahamas, Caribbean and Hawaii. All will require a valid US Passport for US citizens except for a Honeymoon in Hawaii. Surf the net to help decide where you may want to visit.

Keep budget and time constraints in mind. Some couples may be happy to just steal away for a long weekend to the Poconos Mountains or to the coast. Others plan a fun honeymoon at one of the Disney parks. It’s all in what makes you happy as a couple.

No matter what you decide – don’t overbook yourself with activities. Keep your schedule light and easy. Just enjoy being together as a couple. Pamper yourselves and each other. Eat decadent meals. Take luxurious naps. Connect as a couple. Communicate with each other about your hopes and dreams for your future together. Make a wish list for your partner and one for yourself. Then compare lists.

You will have the rest of your lives together to make your partners wishes come true. Congratulations.
